Abstract
Non-static and non-compositional traits will be presented in this thesis as appropriate architectural design provocations. A dynamic form of architecture that would be neither reductive nor stifling can originate in the philosophies of the mid-20th Century Un Art Autre. This non-compositional Une Architecture Autre will thus have an intrinsic flexibility and spatial adaptability not found in geometric formality.; Since art and architecture are both barometers for socio-economic and cultural characteristics, it is apt to consider the intentions behind their creation when designing new architecture. The industrial ruins of the Shultz Company brick yard within the Hudson River Valley will be explored as a suitable illustration for this new methodology.;
