Abstract
The purpose was to design a platinum mass contact sulfuric acid plant to supply the needs of the Hudson Valley Coke Company coke plant located on the east bank of the Hudson River in South Troy, New York. Sixteen tons of 66° Be acid or its equivalent must be produced. Inasmuch as sulfur is produced in the Thylox process at the plant and sulfuric acid is utilized in the absorption of ammonia from the coke gas stream, it might be economical to set up a sulfuric acid plant on the premises. Producers profits, cost of transporting acid, and inconvenience in handling acid would be eliminated.;
