Abstract
While characterization results show good sensitivity and bandwidth, improvements to the modulator design are needed to achieve a bandwidth greater than 1 THz, necessary for sub-picosecond temporal resolution. Improvements to device design may include waveguide engineering to improve coherence between RF and electric fields and phase modulation strength or pivoting to another thin-film electro-optic material system such as zinc telluride (ZnTe) or gallium phosphide (GaP).
