Abstract
This thesis investigates the use of upsampling and L-fold linear interpolation to push high order image spurs away from the center frequency of the transmitted signal and suppress the first three image spurs. The thesis has two main parts. In part one, a mathematical model is developed for the combined digital polar transmitter and digital power amplifier. The model is used to quantify the generation and suppression of the image spurs. In part two, a class-A current combined digital PA is designed using 0.13um CMOS technology. Circuit level simulations are performed to assess the effectiveness of the image suppression techniques and verify the modeling results.
