Abstract
Changes in concentration of both major components and minor elements in an iron-chromium-nickel base alloy dramatically affect susceptibility to radiation-induced swelling. Substantial changes in composition occur in a weld as a result of segregation during solidification. In homogeneous swelling should then occur in irradiated weld metal in a manner related to the inhomogeneity in composition.
