The research presented in this thesis aims to investigate the effects of microstructural variations on the machining responses of bovine cortical bone. Specific research efforts include two micro-scale experimental studies examining the effects of microstructural and age-related variations on machining responses, and a modeling study aimed at predicting cutting forces encountered in gradient microstructures observed in bovine bone.
