Abstract
This thesis presents a Password-free authentication scheme and discusses its design principles and security implements. The system is then analyzed, and methods for implementing it through increased complements and soundness are detailed. This thesis is motivated by the weakness of password-based authentication schemes and the desire to research account security risks and propose a new solution that can close the security gap. Two other non-password-based authentication schemes (smart card and RSA securID) are compared against our scheme in terms of security, deployability, and usability. We target the PC platform for this thesis but would like to carry it to other platforms in the future.
